Asian flavors in spring's new styles, scents

Asian influences are evident in spring's offerings — from clothing to perfume.
Designer Virginia Johnson offers her take on the kimono, below, with a nearly sheer, sleeveless cotton dress. The cherry-blossom print is taken from one of Johnson's own watercolor paintings.
Banana Republic's Jade perfume and body souffle are sweetened with tropical notes of pomegranate and Kashmir wood. Plus, the gift set comes primly packaged in a chocolate-brown hatbox tied with a silk ribbon.
For the home, Vivi's modern, architectural "pickups" have been modeled after the centuries-old design for chopsticks.
Traditionally, red was used during the Chinese New Year to bring good fortune. Jewelry designer Jessica Sill strings crimson coral on to a silk rope by hand and finishes each necklace with a silver clasp stamped with the Chinese symbol for long life
