Sunday race to affect traffic
Advertiser Staff
Hawai'i Kai residents should brace for the effect of 700 bicyclists participating in the 27th annual Tinman Triathlon on Sunday. The athletes will make their way out from Kapi'olani Park to Kealahou Street.
Motorists should expect delays and lane closures, especially at the corner of Lunalilo Home Road and Hawai'i Kai Drive where Hawaii American Water Co. is relining sewer pipes.
The race begins at 5:45 a.m., but most cyclists should be out of Hawai'i Kai around 9 a.m. Race officials met with sewer and city officials to ensure resident access to neighborhoods, said Olga Caldwell, a spokeswoman with the race.
