Honolulu police yesterday interviewed a 22-year-old man whose cousin was found stabbed to death as they continued their investigation into the case.

Tyler Aaron Condon has not been charged, and a motive has not been released in the death of Jake Ira Hale, 28, who was found by neighbors bleeding on a townhouse lanai in 'Ewa Beach early Wednesday morning.

Condon was arrested without incident at 6:40 p.m. Thursday by Wahiawa Crime Reduction Unit officers at a 7-Eleven store on Kamehameha Highway near Kilani Avenue.

Condon was taken to a hospital for treatment of a hand injury before being booked at the main police station cellblock on suspicion of attempted murder at about 10:15 p.m.

At about 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, Hale was found clutching his stomach and calling for help outside an apartment at the Palm Villas II apartments at 91-1060 Mikohu Street. He died of blood loss from wounds to his torso, according to the city medical examiner.

Hale's death was the 14th homicide in Honolulu this year, compared with 18 for all of last year.

Witnesses told police they saw Condon leave the Palm Villas II parking structure in a four-door white Buick. The car is registered to an Army soldier deployed to Iraq, police said, and was not reported stolen.

Condon allegedly hit another vehicle as he sped out of the parking garage, police said.

The apartment at Palm Villas is leased by an Army soldier deployed to Australia, police said.
