Portland State junior offensive lineman Brennan Carvalho has been named to his third All-America team.
Carvalho, a 2004 Kamehameha graduate from Kapa'a, was chosen to the Sports Network Championship Subdivision All-America second team.
He previously was named to the Walter Camp and Associated Press All-America teams.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
"They taped his foot and was able to play 16 minutes in the second half but he did not have full lateral movement," John Pape said in an e-mail. "He saw the doctor yesterday and was told there was no rupture but needed to rest the foot. We are glad there is no rupture but he will probably have to play through the pain."
Pape, the 2005 Advertiser State Player of the Year in basketball, leads the team with 15.2 points per game.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Ah Mow was 48th in the nation in service aces (0.636 per game) in Division I junior colleges.
Also on the roster were middle/right side Lucy Kauvaka (Kahuku '06 of La'ie), middle/right side Tauina Fetui (Farrington '03 of Honolulu), and outside hitter Julie Kalama (Castle '05 of Kane'ohe).
COMMITMENT
Manuma, a member of the 2006 Advertiser All-State softball team, joins Liane Horiuchi (Kamehameha) on the Lady Vols' squad.
"I'm excited and kind of nervous, but I'm more excited than nervous," Manuma said. "I think I'll be comfortable because I'll be with Liane, and I've been playing with her for a long time. I won't be as nervous as she was, because she was by herself."
Manuma's older sisters, Malamaisaua and Valana, both play softball for the University of Hawai'i, but Anita said "going to Tennessee is a major step for me."
