Parking limited for interisland travelers

Advertiser Staff

Aloha Airlines is urging travelers to find alternate parking solutions when they arrive at the Honolulu International Airport today.

Valet service is not accepting any more cars at the interisland parking structure. However, parking is available at the overseas parking garage, a spokesman for Aloha Airlines said yesterday. The state Department of Transportation said this is a typical traffic pattern for a three-day weekend.

Scott Ishikawa, DOT spokesman, said the department is aware of the interisland terminal parking shortage. The department is seeking bids on a new 1,000-stall parking garage between the interisland structure and the overseas parking garage, Ishikawa said.

"We hope to break ground this summer," Ishikawa said. "It should take 18 months to build."
