Six people hurt in 2-car crash

Six people were injured late last night when two vehicles crashed on Kapa'a Quarry Road.

Police said the crash was reported at 10:29 p.m. and that one vehicle ran into a ditch.

Emergency Medical Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic said at least six people were injured. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

Police closed both ends of the road.


MAN FACES 3 MORE CAR-THEFT CHARGES

A 19-year-old man was charged yesterday with three auto thefts from Red Hill to 'Aiea, all allegedly committed while he was free on $30,000 bail for another auto theft charge.

Bail for Nathan Branco on the three charges is $50,000. Branco was arrested Wednesday in Kane'ohe while driving an Acurra reported stolen in January.

He was also charged with promotion of a dangerous drug and driving without a license.

Branco was sentenced to five years' probation last November for four auto-theft convictions. In December, he was again charged for auto theft but was released after posting bail.


CAREER CRIMINAL IN TROUBLE AGAIN

A 39-year-old man faces federal prosecution for allegedly being a career criminal in possession of a firearm.

William P. Josiah Jr., who has 25 convictions, was arrested Tuesday by Waikiki Crime Reduction Unit officers investigating a suspicious-person complaint of a man looking into cars at a Kuhio Avenue hotel parking garage. Police found a bag nearby that contained a .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol.

Josiah was also booked for allegedly being in possession of illegal drugs.

Police will turn Josiah over to federal authorities. His initial appearance before a magistrate will be Tuesday.


MAN CHARGED IN BURGLARY

A man who allegedly broke into a Waihe'e Valley area home Wednesday was charged yesterday with first-degree burglary.

Bradley Kenloy Wong, 36, who has no permanent local address, is being held in lieu of $15,000 bail. In addition to burglary, he was also charged with third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug after police allegedly found him to be in possession during his booking following his arrest on Waihe'e Road.


INJURED WOMAN AIRLIFTED TO SAFETY

An 18-year-old woman with an injured right leg was rescued from a swimming area off Likelike Highway near the Wilson Tunnel yesterday by the Fire Department helicopter, then taken by ambulance to The Queen's Medical Center.

City Emergency Medical Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic said the injury was serious.

Firefighters and an EMS paramedic hiked down to the woman about 4 p.m. and set up the helicopter pickup, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Kenison Tejada.


ASSAULT, ABDUCTION CHARGES FILED

A Nanakuli man was charged yesterday with first-degree sex assault and kidnapping for an alleged attack that was reported Wednesday to police.

Bail for Ezekiel K. Pau is $20,000. Pau has an initial appearance today at District Court.
