McLachlin moves up to 12th

Punahou School alum Parker McLachlin shot a 5-under-par 67 to soar up the leaderboard yesterday after the fourth of six rounds in the PGA Tour National Qualifying Tournament at Winter Garden, Fla.
McLachlin, who started the day in a tie for 33rd, now shares 12th with two others at 12-under 276.
The top 25 finishers and ties will earn 2008 PGA Tour cards, while the next group of players nearest 50 will get full Nationwide Tour exemptions. The remaining players in the 166-man field will receive conditional Nationwide Tour status.
Frank Lickliter II shot even-par 72 yesterday to take a three-stroke lead at 24-under 264.
Jason Allred was second after a 70, followed by Brett Rumford (65), Tommy Gainey (71) and Travis Perkins (68) at 19 under.
Kamehameha School alum Keoke Cotner shot 73—288 and is in a tie for 130th.
At the LPGA qualifier in Dayton Beach, Fla., Maui's Shayna Miyajima shot 78—311 and missed the cut of 294 for the final day of competition.
Jane Park shot a 68 to take a six-stroke lead after four rounds.
The top 17 players after today's fifth round will earn 2008 LPGA Tour cards, while the next 35 will receive conditional status.
BASKETBALL
BYUH PREVAILS, 102-101
Trenson Akana scored 28 points, including a putback with three seconds remaining in overtime, as 20th-ranked Brigham Young-Hawai'i beat host Central Washington, 102-101, last night in the championship game of the Tarp It Tip-Off Classic in Ellensburg, Wash.
Lucas Alves added 22 points and Jermaine Odjegba 12 for the Seasiders (2-0). Corey Nielson and Paul Peterson contributed 11 points apiece, and Jeremy Brown added 10.
Jake Beitinger led Central Washington (3-2) with 30 points and 10 rebounds.
Beitinger's dunk with 22 seconds left in overtime put Central Washington ahead 101-100. BYUH's Brown then missed a jumper with eight seconds to play. Odjegba rebounded, but missed his follow shot. Akana then scored on the putback, his seventh rebound of the game.

FRICK 2ND, FRIESEN 4TH
University of Hawai'i's Magnus Frick placed second in the men's 1-meter springboard and UH's Emma Friesen finished fourth in the women's 3-meter springboard yesterday at the Ohio State Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
Frick scored 370.20 points and Friesen had 314.40.
