Retired city building inspector with 40 years of service; retired as command chief in the Hawaii Air National Guard. Survived by wife, Loraine; daughter, Kimberly Martin; mother, Anne Chow; brothers, Thomas, Gerard, Ralph, Bertram, Leonard, Lyle, Blaine and Michael; sister, Anne Critcher; three grandchildren. DAVID WILLIAM BENDING, 74, of Kailua, Kona, Hawai'i, died Aug. 23, 2007. Born in Northampton, England. Owner and operator of Dave's Bike Shop; participated in several Ironman competitions. Survived by daughters, Sonia Bending-Slates, Tina Graciidis and Kerina Carter; sisters, Marion Brown and Janet Smith; five grandchildren.
