Villa was driving a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle Friday evening when he was struck by a car driven by a 49-year-old Honolulu man.

Both were in the same lane when the car began to switch lanes to the left, then suddenly veered back to the right and hit Villa, police said. The motorcycle then hit an embankment and a tree.

The death was the 27th traffic fatality of the year on O'ahu compared with 24 at the same time last year.

Along west-facing shores, wave heights could reach 12-18 feet this morning.

According to police, the man was in trouble and a surfer brought him to shore on his surfboard.

While being pulled to shore the man fell off the board and stopped breathing.

His name was not released.

A 53-year-old man was in custody last night on charges of attempted murder after an early morning fight in a fast-food restaurant left another man critically injured.

Police said the fight erupted before 8 a.m. after a confrontation in the restroom area of a Burger King restaurant in Wai'anae.

The victim lost consciousness following the fight and was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.

The suspect was arrested and booked for attempted murder.

MAN, 29, ARRESTED IN CAR THEFT, CRASH

A 29-year-old man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly broke into a Kailua home, stole the owner's car and crashed it not long afterward.

Police said the 42-year-old victim was asleep in her house about 3 a.m. when she awoke to find the man in her kitchen.

The man took her car keys and fled in her car.

About an hour later, a police officer spotted the stolen car near the South King Street off-ramp of H-1 Freeway. The man tried to pull away but hit a traffic island and was arrested, police said.
