TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE
"American Experience: Sister Aimee," 9 p.m., PBS. In 1926, people were stunned to hear that Aimee Semple McPherson, the world's most popular preacher, had drowned. Three weeks later, she resurfaced near the Mexican border, telling of a kidnap and escape. Her story was neither believed nor disproved; some of her faithful departed. Then McPherson rebuilt her following. This documentary is the fascinating story of a Canadian farm girl who became a media event. Her troubled personal life — widowed once, divorced twice — didn't seem to slow her soaring pulpit career.
"The Bachelor," 8:45 p.m., ABC. This time, "Bachelor" seems to have a hunk who actually is interested in marriage. Andy Baldwin is a big catch — a doctor and a Navy lieutenant based at Pearl Harbor, with handsome face and rippled torso — who is single at 30. He's also a former Pennsylvania farm boy who talks about marriage and family. In this opener, he meets 25 beauties. Many seem bright and accomplished; one does some drinking and then tries to pick a fight.
