TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE
"Scrubs" season-opener, 8 p.m., NBC. In a burst of short-range thinking, NBC dumped its comedy block two seasons ago. Now it has come to its senses, with four comedies in place between 7 and 9 p.m. One key is "Scrubs," which now has the hospital pondering pregnancies. This will be the first child for JD, the first for Turk and Carla, the second for Dr. Cox; Elliot feels left out.
TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE II
"Men in Trees," 9:01 p.m., ABC. After doing well on Fridays, this show has been promoted to a better night, dumping "Six Degrees." "Men" has Marin (Anne Heche), a big-city relationships expert being plopped into small-town Alaska. Tonight's hour has her returning to New York for Thanksgiving; she promptly misses Alaska and the macho Jack. Meanwhile, Patrick must decide whether to stay home or spend the holiday in New York with Annie.
OF NOTE
"My Name is Earl," 7 p.m., NBC. Back in fifth and sixth grade, Earl stole bologna sandwiches from a classmate daily. Now he delivers 247 such sandwiches. He also begins a plan to make the guy more macho. It proves overly successful.
"'Til Death," 7 and 7:30 p.m., Fox. First is a new episode in which Eddie thinks he's dying. Then is a rerun, introducing his neighbor to a male escape plan — a "garage band" that doesn't play music.
"Ugly Betty," 7 p.m., ABC. Scheming to get Betty's job, Amanda plans the ultimate office party — complete with Styrofoam snow. Meanwhile, others have romance problems: Betty juggles her feelings for Walter and Henry. Daniel feels he loves Sofia (played by Salma Hayek, one of the show's producers). Sofia has doubts.
"The Office," 7:30 p.m., NBC. This script was written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the team that wrote the original, British version of the show. People learn that one of their new co-workers is an ex-convict. And with Jim now dating someone else, he coaches Andy on how to attract Pam.
"Grey's Anatomy," 8 p.m., ABC. The relationship between Burke and Cristina has become strained. Meanwhile, Meredith's half-sister is a patient; also, Mark and Derek reluctantly realize they have to work together on a case.
"30 Rock," 8:31 p.m., NBC. This episode — scheduled earlier then postponed — has Jack giving Liz's social life a makeover. Meanwhile, the show is complicated by cosmetic changes — Tracy's tattoo, Jenna's Botox and Josh's black eyes, which came from an angry confrontation with Regis Philbin.
"ER," 9:01 p.m., NBC. Curtis Ames, who sued Kovac in court, is lurking near Kovac's apartment. Meanwhile, Pratt is trying to adjust to his brother's sexual orientation.
"Madonna: The Confessions Tour," 10 p.m., Bravo. If you missed this concert special last week on NBC, here is a second chance.
