Milestone for Sacred Hearts soccer

Advertiser Staff

Sacred Hearts Academy, fielding its own team for the first time in more than 20 years, won the Interscholastic League of Hono-lulu intermediate soccer title.

Sacred Hearts defeated Kamehameha White, 4-0, Oct. 28 at Waipi'o Soccer Complex behind three goals by Caprice Dydasco and one by Jamie Asuncion.

Sacred Hearts, coached by Jose Dydasco, finished the season 10-1-0.

"The girls played really well, and worked really hard," Dydasco said. "At first, '(they thought) not sure why we're doing this?' "

Dydasco said the team set a preseason goal of finishing third, but "toward the middle of the season, the girls started believing in themselves."

Previously, Sacred Hearts played as part of Pac-Five.
