Careena Onosai had 22 points and 12 rebounds as Word of Life rallied past Kapa'a, 52-49, in the Hawaiian Airlines/HHSAA Girls Basketball Division II State Championships yesterday at McKinley High School.

The Firebrands, the third-place team from the Interscholastic League of Honolulu, trailed 35-31 entering the fourth period.

Word of Life (11-5) will play No. 1 seed Kalani tonight at 8.

Poerava Gantt scored 14 points for Kapa'a (7-3), the Kaua'i Interscholastic Federation champion.

'AIEA 56, MOLOKA'I 38

Capri Holiona scored 14 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, and three teammates also scored in double figures as 'Aiea beat Moloka'i.

Natasha Helsham scored 12, and Nohelani Fonoti and Emily Tausaga each added 10 for 'Aiea (9-5), the O'ahu Interscholastic Association runner-up.

Na Ali'i will play No. 3 seed and ILH champion La Pietra tonight at 6.

Amber Sterner scored 10 points to lead Moloka'i (9-6), the MIL runner-up.

ST. FRANCIS 52, HAWAI'I PREP 36

Siutiti Takai had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Nicole Perry had 12 points as St. Francis beat Hawai'i Prep.

The Troubadours (15-2), the ILH's second-place team, will play No. 4 seed Seabury Hall today at 2:30 p.m.

Kela Fitzgerald scored 15 points to lead Ka Makani (7-7), the Big Island Interscholastic Federation runner-up.

CASTLE 44, HAWAI'I BAPTIST 41

Shanyn Fafard-Kaaihue scored 11 points and Tehani Kekauoha added nine as Castle beat Hawai'i Baptist.

The Knights (10-4), the OIA's third-place team, will play No. 2 seed Kamehameha-Hawai'i today at 4:15 p.m.

Jodi Kamemoto scored 22 points for the Eagles (10-6), who led 27-22 at halftime.
