ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Straighten out that garage clutter

Advertiser Staff

spacer spacer

To tackle a messy garage, lifestyle expert Korey Provencher suggests remembering the acronym STOP:

  • Sort. Haul everything onto the driveway, then categorize items by tools, toys, sporting gear, etc.

  • Talk and trash. Involve the whole family to decide what goes, stays and needs to be donated.

  • Organize. Figure out where to put things back. Consider a color-coded zone for each person.

  • Place. Put everything back into its proper place — always.

    GROW REPELLENTS

Instead of harmful pesticides, use plants that naturally repel insects, recommends the World Wildlife Fund. Some herbs and flowers — including basil, chives, mint, marigolds and chrysanthemums — mixed in with other plants, help keep pests away.

    FINAL WORD

"Without goals, you simply drift and flow on the currents of life. With goals, you fly like an arrow, straight and true to your target."
