Island recipes never go out of style. Who can resist a "Jiffy Fish Dish" or "Shanghai Nachos," or think of having a kid's party without "Wiki Wiki Cake" and "Pinkies"? The Autistic Children's Team has packed more than 180 local recipes into its "Autism Awareness Cookbook" published to coincide with National Autism Awareness Month in April. Contributors include parents of children with autism, teachers, health professionals and businesses. Gov. Linda Lingle shared her Snicker Fudge Brownie recipe.

KERMIT LYNCH COMING TO HALEKULANI

When it comes to wine, ratings be damned is the theory of Kermit Lynch, who has been educating people about obscure French wines for more than 30 years. Go for what's right with what you're eating, he advises. Lynch, who splits his time between Berkeley, Calif. (home to his famed Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant shop), and Provence, will be in town next month and joins sommeliers Kevin Toyama and Roberto Viernes in hosting a wine-tasting at the Halekulani on April 3. La Mer chef Yves Garnier gets back to his roots with French country cuisine — charcuterie, cheeses, mussels, and choucroute with sausage — perfect pairings for wines.
