Two teens can win a makeover

By Paula Rath
Advertiser Staff Writer

Make people wonder what you did on your summer vacation — enter "Mad Makeover," part of Windward Mall's back-to-school teen event, "The Scene."

The winners — one boy and one girl — will receive star treatment on July 9 at the mall. The makeover prizes: a haircut or style and makeover or skin-care session from Bellagio Salon-Spa, and a wardrobe from T&C Surf Designs and Jeans Warehouse or Local Motion. A photo session with Fantastic Shots will capture the winners' new looks.

Entry forms are available from participating Windward Mall merchants and at www.WindwardMall.com. Deadline for entries: Sunday.

FASHIONS FOR THE FOURTH

In addition to their annual fireworks extravaganza, this year Aloha Tower Marketplace will offer a fashion show near the central atrium at 7:45 p.m. Monday. Former Miss Hawaii USA Alicia Michioka Jones is putting together a lineup of fashions from Bungalow Bay, Crazy Fish, Imperial Gallery, Island Fashions, Island Sweetie and Remix, accessorized with jewels from the Black Pearl Gallery.

Admission is free. Information: 566-2337 or online at www.AlohaTower.com.

'HAPPINESS AT $10'

You can buy only so many plastic containers at dollar shops. One Waikiki shop has upped the bargain ante: Everything is $10 at Hamilton Boutique (geddit?) at 2131 Kalakaua Ave. The racks are stuffed with tank tops, gauchos and tennis dresses for just a Hamilton. Beaded handbags, belts and jewelry go for the same price. Men aren't left out: the shop stocks ties and watches too. If even a tenner is too much for you, items on the sale rack are two for $10. Double Lincoln!
