HALEAKALA FRIENDS — The Friends of Haleakala National Park have scheduled a services trip Aug. 9-12 in the crater, to plant native plants or remove invasive species, with time left to relax and explore. KANE'OHE WETLAND PROJECT — Volunteers are needed Aug. 12 to help the Sierra Club clear a wetland of mangrove to create a habitat for endangered water birds at Marine Corps Base Hawai'i. WEED & SEED KICKOFF — Join the launch of two-year neighborhood kokua efforts from 8:30-11 a.m. Aug. 12 in Ala Moana/Sheridan, Kalihi Valley and 'Ewa areas. Projects include Makiki Stream cleanup, anti-graffiti projects and neighborhood patrols. POUHALA MARSH RESTORATION — The Hawai'i Nature Center needs volunteers to pull pickleweed and mangrove at Pouhala Marsh in Waipahu from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Aug. 12. WEED & POT CLUB — Maui Nui Botanical Garden's Weed & Pot Club meets 8:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesdays at 150 Kanaloa Ave. in Kahului to work on nursery plants and perform other work. Tools, gloves and drinking water provided; bring sunscreen, wear shoes.

KANAHA POND — Join Native Hawaiian Plant Society volunteers at Kanaha Pond Wildlife Sanctuary 7:30-11 a.m. Thursdays for weeding and brush cutting; work also done at Maui Ocean Land Trust wetlands. (808) 572-6338.
