FAYE YORCK, former marketing communications manager for The Honolulu Advertiser, has been named director of marketing for News 8 and KFVE. She is a past director of marketing and promotion at KGMB 9, and for 12 years was marketing and creative services manager at Oceanic Cable.
CLAIRE SHIMABUKURO has been named executive director of Hawai'i Meals on Wheels, the meal-delivery service for homebound elderly and disabled people. Her career has also included positions with the Contemporary Museum; Local 5, the hotel workers' union; Hawai'i People's Fund; and local and Mainland freight corporations.
NELSON K.M. LAU has been named a partner in the local office of the audit, tax and advisory firm KPMG LLP. He joined the firm in 1986, and provides audit services to industrial-markets and public-sector clients.
MICHELLE KAUHANE has been named interim executive director of Hawaiian Community Assets, a nonprofit group focused on helping Native Hawaiians and others achieve homeownership. Kauhane joined the mortgage broker and homeownership-education organization in May 2003.
ALAN SHINTANI, president of Alan Shintani Inc., has become president of the local chapter of the building Industry Association. Other officers include the president-elect, BILL PAIK of Grace Pacific Corp.; vice president, MARY K. FLOOD of DR Horton-Schuler Division; secretary, MIKE BRANT of Gentry Homes Ltd.; treasurer, MARLENE LUM of American Savings Bank; special appointee-builder, PAUL SILEN of Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co.; special appointee-associate, AUDREY HIDANO of Superior Solid Surface; immediate past president, FRED MOORE of HSI Mechanical; and chief executive officer, KAREN NAKAMURA of Building Industry Association-Hawai'i.
JOHN LEWIS has joined the East-West Center's Office of External Affairs as a media-relations specialist. The former award-winning correspondent and Tokyo-based Asia bureau chief for CNN once headed CNN's Asia operations from the cable network's Atlanta headquarters. He also served as senior associate with Producers International Media Inc., a consulting and training company for the broadcasting, business and hotel industries.
Diana Leong has been promoted to sales representative by Atlantis Adventures. She will focus on the westbound travel market. Leong previously worked as a store manager for Wet Seal, Santa Barbara, Calif., and joined Atlantis in May 2005.
