TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Battlestar Galactica," 8 p.m., Sci Fi Channel. Last week's season opener ended in taut crisis. Commander Adama (Edward James Olmos) and Admiral Cain (Michelle Forbes) set aside their feud. Tonight, they must link to attack a key Cylon ship. However, each secretly gave a command: Cain wants her soldiers to kill Adama after the battle; Adama has ordered Starbuck (Katee Sackoff) to kill Cain. Starbuck faces a deep dilemma. This is a powerful episode.

"Monk," 10 p.m., USA Network. After a long stretch of reruns, this clever show has seven new episodes: four airing before the Winter Olympics, three afterward. Tonight's episode gets a tad silly, as Monk obsesses over someone he's never met — a factory shirt inspector. That sets up an investigation at a fashion show and Natalie's daughter has a chance to be a model. Next week's episode is much better, but this one is still fun.

OF NOTE

"Ghost Whisperer," 7 p.m., CBS. An artist was convicted of murder and executed. He wants to get a message to his daughter, who refuses to listen to a ghost.

"The Bernie Mac Show," 7 p.m., Fox. Bernie and Wanda have a busy house with his nieces and nephew. Still, she's unhappy about not being pregnant. Tonight, she gives Bernie specific directives.

"Dancing With the Stars," 7 p.m., ABC. The second results show.

"In Justice," 8 p.m., ABC. Last week, this new show settled into its regular time slot with a compelling episode. Tonight, a former star athlete, convicted of murder, has been in prison for eight years. His sister is pushing for a new trial.

"Numb3rs," 9 p.m., CBS. A college student is killed shortly after winning big in blackjack. That leads Charlie into the complexities of card-counting rings.
