There's no Sally Bowles, but NextDoor will have shades of 1930s Berlin when it turns into Cabaret Apocalyptique on Saturday. Fishnet stockings and boas are de rigueur when Leroi the Girl Boi and the Cherry Blossom Burlesque crew, above, take the stage. Burlesque — think Ziegfeld Follies meets Femme Nu — has been going strong in New York's Lower East Side for the past four years. Now it's Honolulu's naughty turn. 9 p.m., $10, www.myspace.com/cherryblossomburlesque.

PUPU PERFECTED
If ever there was a lowest-common-denominator food, it's Buffalo wings. The el-cheapo cut of chicken slathered in hot sauce and dipped in dressing from a bottle is a spicy-creamy combo that no one can resist. Leave it to Ivan Pahk, chef at Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar in Kapalua, to rework it as a light, bright shrimp dish. The crustaceans are coated in a gingered kim-chee sauce and served with a slaw of blue cheese and buttermilk (no bottles were emptied in the making of this dish). It's part of the four-course holiday omakase menu ($45) at Sansei in the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, through Jan. 5. 931-6286.

NO BONES ABOUT IT
Once relegated to adorning pirate ships, Hells Angels' hogs and heavy-metal groupies, the skull now holds court in high fashion. Polished and prettied, the mortality metaphor is a striking accent in jewelry and accessories such as this Lucien Pellat-Finet patent leather belt (on sale for $281, reduced from $562) at Aloha Rag, 1221 Kapi'olani Blvd. (589-1352). Jump on this statement bandwagon quick — after all, fashion, like life, is an ephemeral thing.
