Las Vegas' loss was Wai'anae's gain in boys volleyball this season.

Robert Mokiao, a 5-10 outside hitter, was a two-time Nevada All-State player at Canyon Springs and Mojave High Schools in North Las Vegas before transferring to Wai'anae this past summer.

Mokiao proceeded to help the Seariders go 10-0 in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association's Division II West regular season and later helped Wai'anae win the OIA DII championship.

He capped his senior season by being named OIA West Division II Player of the Year in a vote of league coaches.

He is joined on the West DII's all-star first team by fellow Searider senior Jesse Lafua.

'Aiea was represented by senior Pili Taitan and junior Keli'i Aleaga. Waialua placed senior Rollin Olaso and junior Marnik Dela Cruz.

'Aiea's Erin Okamoto, who had only eight players on her roster, was named Coach of the Year.
