Ceremonies, fairs on World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day will be marked in Hawai'i today with several events on different islands.
On O'ahu, a health fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tamarind Park in Bishop Square. More than a dozen nonprofit and health organizations involved in the fight against AIDS will be sharing information about their work with the public.
A ceremony to commemorate World AIDS Day will begin at 6 p.m. at Church of the Crossroads, 1212 University Ave., and will feature a display of the AIDS Memorial Quilts and a showing of the Department of Education's new video, "HIV in Hawai'i: Local People, Local Stories."
On Kaua'i, HIV Testing/Counseling will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Malama Pono in Lihu'e and from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Kapa'a Neighborhood Center in Kapa'a.
An open house will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Malama Pono in conjunction with the "Lights on Rice Parade." There will be snacks and free condoms.
On the Big Island, an open house will be held from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the Hawai'i Island HIV/AIDS Foundation, 75-240 Nani Kailua Drive, Suite 5, Kailua, Kona.
A candlelight walk from Hargroves Restaurant to the King Kamehameha Hotel will begin at 5:30 p.m.
On Maui, a candle-lighting ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. at Kalama Beach Park Pavilion in Kihei.
