FESTIVAL: OCT. 8

See what Mo'ili'ili has to offer at the 10th annual Discover Moiliili Festival. The event features a craft fair, general store, farmers' market, food booths, entertainment, keiki activities, photo exhibit and information booth. There will be a free trolley service between the park and Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. Admission is free.

After the festival, the "Scare Your Socks Off" ghost storytelling contest starts at 6 p.m. at Church of the Crossroads. Before the contest, the haunted Gypsy Camp opens at 5 p.m. with fortune telling and gypsy stew. Admission is $3 general, $1 children under 12. 943-0371.

CONCERT: OCT. 16

The Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble presents "East Meets West," its 30th anniversary concert tour of the Islands. Guests from Tokyo and the Mainland join the Honolulu troupe to bring together Japanese and Western instruments. Tickets are $10-$25.

DANCE: OCT. 19-23

UH-Manoa's Department of Theatre and Dance kicks off its 2005-06 season with the dance concert "Fall Footholds." With choreography from graduate and undergraduate students, the production showcases a myriad of styles and techniques. Tickets are $10 general, $9 seniors, miliary, UH faculty/staff, students and $3 UH-Manoa students.

BENEFIT: OCT. 22

Multi-talented vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Kenny Rankin lends his musical skills to headline the 21st annual Celebrity Auction and Dinner for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. With a career beginning in the '60s, the pop singer's hits include "Peaceful," "It Had to Be You" and "Because of You." The black-tie gala benefits Hawaii Family Support Institute and CARE, child-abuse prevention and treatment agencies. Tickets are $150.

DANCE: OCT. 22

The famed all-male Black Grace dance company from New Zealand prepares to make its Honolulu debut. With Pacific Islander and Maori dancers, the troupe uses traditional and contemporary dance techniques integrated with Western modern dance and martial arts. Tickets are $25 general, $20 military, seniors, students, UH faculty and staff, and $15 UH-Manoa students.

Kumu Kahua Theatre continues its 2005-06 season with the premiere of a new offering by Dennis Carroll, "Age Sex Location." Four generations of a local family must deal with the ups and downs of cyberspace when a computer is introduced into their home. Scenes from the computer monitor come to life via a four-person "Compuchorus." Taurie Kinoshita directs. Tickets are $5-$16.
