Ten gymnasts from the Hawaiian Island Twisters Gym qualified for the USA Gymnastics National TOP Testing, a national competition designed to find the nation's top young gymnasts.

The gymnasts are 9-year-olds Chesarey Fujimori, Cierra Lauro and Tiare Sadarananda; 10-year-olds Lydia Lehnert and Jasmine Padeken-Pasegan; and 11-year-olds Jenna Frowein, Jodie Kaupiko, Andrea Prohaska, Tiara Rapp and Tamara Rapp.

The TOP, or Talent Opportunity Program, national competition is at the Women's National Team Training Center in Houston, Oct. 21 to 23. The top 20 gymnasts in each of the three age levels (age 9, 10, and 11) will be invited to attend a training camp in December at Karolyi's Gymnastics, home of famed coaches Bela and Martha Karolyi.

The 10 qualifiers earned a chance to compete at the national level after being evaluated at a regional competition. From the 3,056 participants who tested across the nation, 300 qualified to compete in the National TOP testing.

Receiving special recognition at the regional testing was 8-year-old Annika Northrop, of HITS, who earned the "Diamond Level" achievement status, the highest level possible for 8-year-olds.

Tiare Donahue of Island Tumblers earned "Silver Level" honors and Ashley Tanga of Maui earned "Bronze Level" status. Eight-year-olds can only compete at the regional level.
