Hale'iwa man dies from injuries

A 19-year-old man who was badly injured last month while jumping off a large rock on the Hale'iwa side of Waimea Bay died Tuesday at The Queen's Medical Center.

The city Department of the Medical Examiner identified the victim as John Greengrove of Hale'iwa.

Police said Greengrove was injured Aug. 27 and taken to Queen's, where he was placed on life support.


GIRLFRIEND HELD IN THEFT OF CAR

A 39-year-old Kane'ohe woman was arrested Wednesday night, just 25 minutes after she allegedly stole her boyfriend's car from his home in Kailua and was involved in a collision in Kane'ohe.

The boyfriend, 47, called police about 9:30 p.m. to report that his girlfriend had stolen his car, police said. At 9:55 p.m., the woman was arrested near the intersection of Kamehameha Highway and William Henry Road on suspicion of car theft.


SUSPECT ARRESTED IN THEFT OF VAN

A 33-year-old Waipahu woman who allegedly failed to stop for pedestrians in a crosswalk Wednesday in Waipahu was arrested on suspicion of operating a stolen vehicle.

A patrol officer pulled the Chevrolet van over for the crosswalk violation and learned the van had been reported stolen by a car rental company.
