ISABELLA BALUBAR, 89, of Kihei, Maui, died Sept. 14, 2005. Born in Hawai'i. A homemaker. BUDDY BANKS, 78, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Hawai'i, died Aug. 7, 2005. Born in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada. A bassist with the giants of jazz who performed in Hawai'i for 37 years; studied at the National Conservatory in Paris and was part of the "bebop" jazz scene of the 1950s, performing with Billie Holiday, Lionel Hampton, Sarah Vaughn, Louis Armstrong and others; band leader at Hickam Air Force Base in the late 1950s and a bassist with the Honolulu Symphony. Survived by wife, Irene; son, Alan; a granddaughter; sister, Jean Daniel. Service held in Las Vegas. Arrangements by Desert Mortuary.
