Long Beach State freshman Kim Silos scored a hat trick in a 4-2 win over the University of Hawai'i women's soccer team yesterday at the 49er Classic in Long Beach, Calif.

Hawai'i junior midfielder Adria Campbell scored in the 72nd minute to tie the game at 2, after the 49ers helped with an own goal in the 70th minute.

Silos scored the go-ahead goal in the 74th minute and added another in the 83rd minute to make it 4-2. Silos scored her first goal in the ninth minute, and assisted on the 49ers' second goal in the 54th minute for the 2-0 lead.

LBSU (4-1-0) captured the tournament, with Hawai'i (2-3-1) in second and Weber State finishing third.

Silos was named the tournament's Offensive MVP, and Hawai'i's Campbell, junior midfielder/defender Kelly McClosky, and freshman defender Tehane Higa were named to the All-Tournament team.

Hawai'i ends its three-game road trip tomorrow against UC Santa Barbara.

Boise State sophomore defender Allison Tsuchida, a Punahou graduate, was named the Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of Week, after the Broncos shut out Montana, 1-0, and held Air Force (2-1 victory) to one goal, a penalty kick, last weekend.

Idaho forward Sonja Baumgartner was named the Offensive Player of the Week. Hawai'i freshman goalkeeper Kori Lu was a nominee for defensive player of the week.
