Marie Lord, wife of late actor Jack Lord, who starred in the television show "Hawaii Five-0," died at home yesterday, according to a news release from McNeil Wilson Communications Inc.
Marie Lord was by her husband's side when he died in 1998 at the age of 77.
"Their long marriage set a unique example in Hollywood, and Marie was as supportive a wife as we have ever seen," said Vi and Paul Loo, Marie Lord's trustees and longtime friends of the Lords.
On "Hawaii Five-0," Jack Lord portrayed Steve McGarrett, the no-nonsense head of a fictitious Hawai'i state police force, for 12 years. The couple remained in Honolulu after the series ended in 1980.
A native of St. Louis, Marie Lord studied fashion design and art in Paris before moving to New York to pursue a career as a fashion designer. It was in New York that she met Jack Lord, who was a fine arts major attending New York University on a football scholarship.
Marie Lord soon gave up her career to help support her husband in becoming an actor.
Like her husband, Marie Lord requested that no funeral be held.
