BYUH's Ustyuzhanina, Kim win regional tennis titles

Brigham Young-Hawai'i's Julia Ustyuzhanina won the women's singles title and Seasider teammate Junyoung Kim captured the men's championship of the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association West Regionals yesterday in Pomona, Calif.
The top-seeded Ustyuzhanina beat teammate Tetyana Bula, 6-0, 6-2, in the final then teamed with Bula to defeat Katrina Holmberg and Jenny Tsai of host Cal Poly-Pomona, 8-1, for the doubles crown.
The top-seeded Kim beat teammate Leon So'onalole, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3, but the Seasider duo lost to UC-San Diego's Brent Molden and Eric Rubens, 9-7, in the doubles final.

HPU, BYUH PREVAIL
Barbara Martin had 13 kills as No. 7 Hawai'i Pacific swept Chaminade, 30-17, 30-13, 30-27, last night in a Pacific West Conference volleyball match at McCabe Gym.
Antje Buskies, Flavia Brakling and Paula Koikopoulos each added eight kills for HPU (12-1, 2-0).
Trina Kauliakamoa and Kara Smith each had eight kills for Chaminade (8-7, 0-4).
Elsewhere in the PacWest, Yu Chuan Weng hammered 33 kills as No. 22 Brigham Young-Hawai'i rallied past host Hawai'i-Hilo, 17-30, 30-22, 30-27, 30-28.
Christina Bobik had 17 kills and Seta Brown Latu added 26 digs for BYUH (13-1, 3-1).
Taina Savage had 22 kills and 13 digs, and Kahealani Silva added 26 digs for Hilo (10-5, 1-1).
