Woman injured; suspect arrested

Police on Monday arrested a 24-year-old Mountain View man on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was found critically injured at a Fern Acres home on Friday.
The woman, 34, was found unconscious. She was taken to Hilo Medical Center and transferred to The Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu in critical condition, police said.
Police arrested the suspect in the upper Ainaloa subdivision.
FIRE THREATENS CONDOS IN KONA
A half-acre brush fire in Kailua, Kona threatened the Ali'i Lani condominiums on Ali'i Drive Monday evening, but it was brought under control without any damage or injuries.
Parts of the condominiums were evacuated, and Ali'i Drive was closed because of smoke and the threat of fire shortly after the blaze was reported at 7:45 p.m. Monday.
Firefighters brought the fire under control by 8:20 p.m. but kept a crew on the scene Monday night to mop up hot spots, fire officials said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.

'BREAKFAST WITH SANTA' DEC. 10, 11
Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii is holding its annual "Breakfast With Santa" fundraiser Dec. 10 and 11 at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i's Manoa Grand Ballroom.
Two seatings are offered each day: breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., and lunch from noon to 2 p.m. The cost is $18 per person, free for children under 2.
The event includes a meal, a photo with Santa, clowns, games and crafts, magicians, live music and a holiday gift.
Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii is a nonprofit organization that aims to prevent child abuse through education, public awareness and advocacy. For ticket information, call 440-4613.

MCKINLEY HIGH PLANS FUNDRAISER
The McKinley High School Athletics Department will have a chicken sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
The fundraiser will include sushi and shave ice, along with chicken plates.
The food will be available near the school's U-driveway off South King Street.
WOMAN ARRESTED IN ARMED ROBBERY
A 32-year-old 'Ahuimanu woman has been arrested as a suspect in the armed robbery Monday of two women in Waikiki.
The women, ages 26 and 32, told police a woman approached them about 1:20 p.m. in front of 2299 Kuhio Ave., threatened to shoot them and demanded money.
Police said no losses or injuries were reported by the two victims.
Police arrested the suspect on suspicion of two counts each of first-degree robbery and first-degree terroristic threatening.
MAKIKI
SUSPICIOUS IDS LEAD TO ARREST
A 23-year-old man was arrested at Makiki District Park Monday night on suspicion of forgery after a police officer found the man carrying what appeared to be counterfeit ID cards.
Police said the officer began to question the man about 10:40 p.m. after finding him in the park after it had closed.
The officer asked the man for his identification and was given a California drivers license which did not appear to be authentic.
The officer asked police dispatchers to check on the license, and they determined it had been issued to someone having a different name than the one the suspect was using.
The man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree forgery. During a search, police reported finding a second ID card that also appeared to be counterfeit and arrested the man a second time.
WAIPAHU
GUNSHOTS FIRED AT WAIPAHU MAN
Police have opened an attempted-murder investigation after a Waipahu man reported being fired upon near his home Sunday night.
The victim, 23, told police he was "hanging out" with a few of his friends when he heard several gunshots about 10:30 p.m. and saw a black car speeding away.
The man who reported the incident later reported finding bullet holes in his car and home and called police. No one was injured.
