ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
'Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus'

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Director Andrew Douglas gives new meaning to "Song of the South" in his documentary "Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus."

Douglas, who directed this year's remake of "The Amityville Horror," follows alt-country singer Jim White through a southern landscape of churches, truck stops, juke joints and coal mines, stopping in between to chat with musicians such as the Handsome Family and Johnny Dowd.

The textured, moody road-trip film through Louisiana, Kentucky, Virginia and Florida is Douglas' attempt to capture the soul of the south. At Doris Duke Theatre, today and tomorrow, 1 and 7:30 p.m. 532-8768.
