After being eliminated in last year's semifinals, top-ranked Kahuku returns to the First Hawaiian Bank Division I state football championship against No. 2 Punahou.
Kickoff is 8 p.m. Friday at Aloha Stadium.
The Red Raiders (10-1) beat Wai'anae, 43-0, and the Buffanblu ousted Baldwin, 30-7, in semifinals Saturday night at the stadium. Kahuku is seeking its fourth title, while Punahou is trying for its first.
Meanwhile, Iolani (8-4) will play Radford (9-2) for the Division II crown at 5 p.m. The No. 7 Raiders lost to Campbell, 28-7, in last year's championship. The No. 10 Rams are in their biggest game since winning the 1981 O'ahu Prep Bowl, 14-12, against Saint Louis.
Iolani raided Moanalua, 48-20, and Radford rammed Kamehameha-Maui, 37-27, in semifinals Saturday night.
General admission tickets for the championship games are $12, but $3 discount vouchers are available at all O'ahu First Hawaiian Bank branches.
Price for students K-12 and seniors (62-years and older) remains at $5, but the discount vouchers cannot be applied for these tickets.
The Kahuku-Punahou game pits teams of contrasting offenses. The Red Raiders pound the turf with the running game, while the Buffanblu like to throw. Each excels at what it does.
Kahuku averages 235.6 yards rushing per game, led by the running back tandem of Malosi Te'o (947 yards, 12 TDs) and Kamuela Alisa (771, 11).
Punahou averages 204.8 yards passing per contest behind junior quarterback Brett Kan (210 of 372 for 2,511 yards, 23 TDs).
The Red Raiders have posted six shutouts, allowing only 46 points, half coming in their only loss of the season (23-6 to Castle).
Punahou allows 12.9 points per game, recording three shutouts in the process.
While the Red Raiders have reached the championship in four of the last six tournaments, this will be Punahou's biggest game since the 1977 O'ahu Prep Bowl, when it lost to Wai'anae, 27-6.
Punahou leads the series against Kahuku, 7-1. Their last meeting was 1997 with the Buffanblu prevailing, 14-12, in a nonleague game.
The Rams and Raiders have met only once. Iolani won 48-20 in a 2002 nonleague game.
Iolani's Wendell Look is a win shy of his 100th career coaching victory. A win would make him the 22nd coach in Hawai'i high school history to reach the century-win mark. On Nov. 11, Kahuku's Siuaki Livai got his 100th victory in the OIA championship.
