TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Prison Break," 8 p.m., Fox. Here is the cliffhanger, setting up a midseason break. The series' premise: Certain that his brother Lincoln didn't commit murder, Michael manages to get himself sent to the same prison and has been planning a breakout that keeps getting more complicated, as last week's episode (rerunning at 7 p.m.) reminds us. The new episode starts on the eve of Lincoln's execution, when things must move quickly. On the outside, Veronica goes public with what she's learned about the frame-up.

"The Engagement Ring," 6 p.m., TNT; reruns at 8 and 10 p.m. This movie takes a long time to get rolling, but the final half-hour makes it worth the trouble. That's when two families with neighboring vineyards finally sit down for dinner together. They have been feuding for the 40 years since a misunderstanding caused by postal error. When they finally collide, humor and romance ensue. Patricia Heaton stars, with Lainie Kazan as her mom. Steven Schachter ("Door to Door") has directed a skillful mixture of comedy, drama and romance.
